Update: read our report from the forum: Stratburg at Vietnam’s new programme to take firms abroad.

On Wednesday, 4 November 2026, our Managing Partner Marco Förster will speak at the Vietnam Export Promotion Forum 2026 in Hanoi, where the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) will officially launch the Go Global Programme. The forum is organised by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE) with support from the Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO).

What the Go Global Programme sets out to do

Approved under Prime Ministerial Decision 626/QĐ-TTg of 6 April 2026, the Go Global Programme for 2026 to 2030 aims to help Vietnamese companies expand abroad in a comprehensive and sustainable way and integrate more deeply into global supply and value chains. It moves away from one-off trade fairs and business matching towards tailored roadmaps built around each company’s capabilities and goals.

Its targets for 2030 are ambitious:

  • training at least 10,000 businesses
  • building international expansion plans for 1,000 companies
  • in-depth support for 100 companies investing overseas, 30 of them through mergers and acquisitions
  • helping 100 businesses join regional and global value chains
  • helping 100 businesses succeed on cross-border e-commerce platforms

From 2027, the programme plans a Go Global Index to assess how ready companies are to expand abroad, and a Go Global Platform connecting them with support organisations.

Our role at the forum

At 09:45, Marco will present on “Global Opportunities, Global Ambitions: Positioning Vietnamese Businesses in International Value Chains”. He will then join the panel discussion alongside Vu Ba Phu, Director General of VIETRADE, SIPPO expert Laurent Corpataux, Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and representatives of FPT Software, TH true MILK and TikTok.

The programme also features Vice Minister of Industry and Trade Luong Hoang Thai, the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, the Foreign Investment Agency of the Ministry of Finance, and a live connection with the Vietnam Trade Office in the United States.

Why it matters

For years, the corridor ran mostly one way, with foreign investors coming into Vietnam. Go Global marks a shift: Vietnamese companies are now building their own presence abroad, from subsidiaries and distribution networks to brands and acquisitions. Helping organisations move into unfamiliar markets is what we do, and we look forward to supporting Vietnamese businesses on that journey.
